Goscote House in Leicestershire demonstrates how specialist architectural glazing can sensitively connect old and new. Designed by HSSP Architects, this Grade II listed home in Wymeswold has been carefully transformed with a contemporary kitchen extension, linked to the original building via a frameless structural glass connection. The glazing allows the historic elevations to remain visually intact while introducing light‑filled circulation space between the two structures. IQ Glass designed, supplied and installed the bespoke glazing package across the project, including slim sliding doors to the kitchen, a large sliding window positioned over the sink, and a highly detailed glass link incorporating frameless glass walls, roof glazing and glass‑to‑glass junctions throughout. Thermally broken Invisio fixings were used to ensure modern performance standards without compromising the architectural intent. The result is a calm, minimal intervention where glazing steps back, allowing light, material contrast and the original listed fabric to take centre stage.
