PGD Batch 17 had the privilege of visiting Laser Engineering and Resources Consultants Limited, where their understanding of Pressure-Volume-Temperature (PVT) analysis moved beyond the classroom into real-world application. During the field Visit, they explored reservoir fluid characterization, hydrocarbon classification, crude assay, and phase behaviour, gaining a deeper appreciation of how these analyses support reservoir management and optimize hydrocarbon recovery. They also learned how a PVT cell simulates hydrocarbon behaviour by recreating reservoir, wellbore, and surface conditions, enabling engineers to predict fluid performance throughout the production process. Another highlight of the visit was learning under Professor Mike Onyekonwu, who continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry. As the Founder and First Managing Consultant of Laser Engineering and Resources Consultants Limited, he has made significant contributions to Reservoir Management Studies, PVT Sampling and Analysis, and Slickline Services. It was a valuable experience that reinforced the importance of combining classroom knowledge with practical industry exposure. #TotalEnergies #PVT #ReservoirEngineering #NNPC #CrudeAssay
