The PGD Batch 17 students had the privilege of visiting Ansett Integrated Services Limited, where we gained practical insight into the science behind reservoir characterization and core analysis. We were privileged to learn from Mrs. Edith Akwaeke , a renowned physicist with expertise in petrophysics and reservoir property estimation, whose leadership as Managing Director has contributed significantly to the company's growth and attainment of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) Seal of Quality certification. During the visit, we explored the journey of a core sample from preservation, cleaning, slabbing, and plugging to the various analyses used to evaluate reservoir properties. We gained a deeper understanding of Routine Core Analysis (RCA), Special Core Analysis (SCAL), and Digital Rock Physics, all of which play critical roles in understanding reservoir behavior and optimizing hydrocarbon recovery.
