You can’t find what you need if you don’t know what you are looking for. Many project management software selection processes fail because of poorly defined requirements. Too narrow, and you'll miss functionality your teams rely on daily. Too broad, and every vendor looks equally capable on paper, leaving you no real basis for comparison. The MoSCoW framework gives you a better starting point. 👉 Must-haves a.k.a. ‘the non-negotiables’. Features your project teams simply cannot work without. 👉 Should-haves a.k.a. ‘important features for the future’. These shape the medium-term value of your platform. 👉 Could-haves: genuinely useful features if scope and budget allow. 👉 Won't-haves (this time): features that are explicitly out of scope at this time. Naming the features you don’t need is just as important as defining what you require. It keeps the project manageable and prevents requirements from expanding mid-process. An exhaustive feature list is nearly impossible to get right. But having a clear, structured brief that lets you evaluate vendors on the same terms is a requirement in itself if you want to serve your business right.
