+++ 𝗘𝗖𝗔𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗨𝗦 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 +++ When randomized trials are not feasible, external control arms (ECAs) can be a valuable approach to generating evidence — but only if the underlying data are fit for purpose. iOMEDICO is contributing data and analyses from the pancreatic cancer registry to the Friends of Cancer Research ECA pilot project. Preliminary findings will be presented at the ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research conference in Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 20, at 9:00 a.m. ET. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: • Independent ECA construction was shown to be feasible. • Eligibility criteria, data availability, and missing data can influence cohort composition and outcome estimates. • Transparent documentation is essential when assessing data fitness for ECA use.
