Three days after the 7.8 earthquake struck Mindanao, Southern Philippines, nearly 200,000 people have been affected across three regions, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Displacement continues to rise, with more than 25,000 people currently displaced. Figures are expected to increase as government-led assessments continue in hard-hit areas. IOM Philippines is supporting the Government of the Philippines in conducting needs assessment and displacement tracking in coordination with relevant government agencies, including the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development in its capacity as Shelter Cluster lead. In parallel, IOM has provided tarpaulins to support the immediate shelter needs of affected families in Lake Sebu and Sultan Kudarat.
