A significant portion of healthcare spending doesn’t go to care at all. It’s tied up in administration, inefficiencies, and processes that don’t directly benefit patients. AI has the potential to shift that balance away from overhead and toward outcomes that matter: improving how patients are scheduled, how claims are processed, how data flows between systems, and how decisions are made and verified. Morgan Stanley estimates AI could reduce total healthcare administrative costs by $400 billion to $1.5 trillion in the U.S. alone. But that only happens if it’s applied with that goal in mind. If you could reallocate even a fraction of your operational spend, where would it create the most value?
