42% of companies abandoned most of their AI initiatives in 2025. Enterprise AI strategies assume that better technology will fix broken systems, but the constraint often isn’t the technology at all. It’s how work is designed, coordinated, and managed over time. In many industries, rising costs and slower delivery aren’t the result of worse tools but of processes that have become more fragmented, more complex, and harder to navigate. More approvals, longer timelines, and less alignment across teams all compound over time. The result is work that takes longer, costs more, and becomes increasingly difficult to scale. AI has the potential to improve this, but only if it’s applied to how work is managed, not just how it’s performed. Otherwise, it risks becoming another layer on top of already complex systems. Where is complexity compounding in your organization?
