WHO OWNS HOLLYWOOD? THE NEW POWER MAP OF ENTERTAINMENT Hollywood is no longer only a creative industry. It has become a strategic battlefield between content ownership, streaming platforms, intellectual property, data, technology, advertising power and global subscriber relationships. The latest ownership map of major U.S. studios and streamers shows how concentrated the entertainment industry has become. Disney controls one of the worldโs strongest intellectual property ecosystems, combining Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, Disney+, Hulu and major franchise power. Comcast / NBCUniversal remains a vertically integrated media group with Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination and Peacock. Warner Bros. Discovery combines Warner Bros., DC Studios, HBO Max and Discovery+, giving it one of the deepest content libraries in global entertainment. Amazon has transformed from an e-commerce and cloud giant into a serious media owner through Prime Video, MGM and Amazon MGM Studios. Netflix remains the purest global streaming platform, built on scale, data, original content and direct consumer distribution. Apple uses Apple TV+ as part of a wider premium ecosystem, where entertainment supports services revenue, brand loyalty and device integration. Sony, Paramount, AMC Networks and Starz complete a landscape where studios, streamers and distribution platforms are increasingly interconnected. The strategic message is clear: In modern entertainment, the real asset is not only the film or the series. The real asset is the ability to control attention, own franchises, distribute globally, collect data, monetize subscribers and defend pricing power. This is why consolidation in media is likely to continue. Streaming remains expensive. Content costs are high. Competition is global. Consumers are selective. Only companies with scale, capital, strong intellectual property and disciplined distribution strategies can build sustainable long-term margins. For investors, Hollywood should be analysed less as a glamour industry and more as a capital-intensive, technology-driven, intellectual-property monetisation business. The winners will be the companies able to combine creativity, brand equity, global distribution, data intelligence and financial discipline. ๐ INVEST Magazine โ Coming Soon!
