Combining scientific research with operational expertise is the most effective path toward a safer and more resilient territory. 🌍 The collaboration between the Civil Protection of the Puglia Region and the University of Bari Aldo Moro demonstrates how academic research can be transformed into a practical tool and drive innovation in environmental protection. Following the achievements of the TO BE READY project, which introduced pilot nature-based engineering interventions in fire-affected forest areas and developed a risk analysis model, the work now continues through the strategic project RESILIENCE. The goal? To turn theoretical findings into practical solutions that can be implemented in the field. The University will be responsible for: 👉 Monitoring the pilot interventions and study areas in Gravina, assessing vegetation recovery and soil stability. 👉 Refining the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) model to more accurately identify areas at risk of post-fire erosion and use this information to support emergency decision-making processes.
