📢 International CNRS Thematic School Radiative Transfer in Semi-Transparent Media 📍 Hendaye, France | 🗓️ 3–9 October 2026 Are you interested in radiative transfer, porous and semi-transparent media, high-temperature processes, atmospheric sciences, or advanced numerical modeling? Join an international community of PhD students, researchers, and engineers for a week of intensive training and hands-on learning at the CNRS Thematic School Radiative Transfer in Semi-Transparent Media, organized by the French Research Network TAMARYS. Participants will gain knowledge of: 🔹 Basics of thermal radiation (Prof. Franck Enguehard, University of Poitiers, France) 🔹 Methods for solving the RTE (Prof. Pedro Coelho, Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal) 🔹 Physics of gas radiation (Dr Anouar Soufiani, CNRS, France) 🔹 Approximate gas radiation models (Prof. Fengshan Liu, NRCC, Canada) 🔹 Radiation scattering in particulate media (Prof. Rémi Carminati, ESPCI Paris - PSL, France) 🔹 Radiation physics of solids (Dr Benoit Rousseau, CNRS, France) 🔹 Near-field radiative transfer (Prof. Mathieu Francoeur, University of Utah, USA) 🔹 Identification of the radiative properties of semi-transparent media (Prof. Kyle Daun, University of Waterloo, Canada) 🔹 A history of radiative transfer (Prof. M. Pinar Menguc, Ozyeğin University, Turkey) 🔹 Advanced Monte Carlo methods (Prof. Richard Fournier, University of Toulouse & Prof. Mouna El Hafi, IMT Mines Albi, France) 🔹 Infrared thermography and spectroscopy (Prof. Gilles Parent, University of Lorraine, France) 🔹 Modelling the radiative properties of gases (Dr Frédéric André, CNRS, France) Three evening seminars will also be given: 🔹 atmospheric re-entry with ArianeGroup 🔹 modelling of high-temperature industrial furnaces with Saint-Gobain 🔹 atmospheric thermal modelling ⚠️ Participation is limited to 65 attendees. 🗓️ Pre-registration closes on 30 June 2026 🔗 Learn more and pre-register: https://lnkd.in/dT8cNuqT Please share this opportunity with colleagues, students, and collaborators who may be interested. #RadiativeTransfer #PorousMedia #HeatTransfer #ThermalScience #InterPore #CNRS #Engineering #ComputationalPhysics #EnergyResearch #AtmosphericScience #PhD #ResearchTraining
