Meet the mobile health team traveling by boat to reach cut-off communities 🛶 In Tenekou, central Mali, climate change is making rainy seasons more extreme, with entire villages cut off for months at a time—reachable only by water. So when the rains come, the IRC’s mobile health team swaps cars for boats to continue delivering life‑saving care. Mohamed, the team’s primary doctor, screens children for malnutrition, treating children as young as 12 months. Meanwhile, obstetric nurse Fatoumata supports pregnant women with check‑ups and prenatal care. These journeys matter. Mali is facing one of the most underreported humanitarian crises on the planet, with over 400,000 people displaced and one million children at risk of acute malnutrition. Despite growing barriers and funding gaps, support from EU in Emergencies is helping expand the IRC’s ongoing emergency response for displaced communities here. This is what it looks like to refuse to leave people behind.
