🔬 Day 1 at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology: Momentum in Motion Yesterday marked the exciting start of ICTER’s visit to UCL Institute of Ophthalmology - a full day of science-driven exchange, future-focused discussions, and strengthening of our shared mission within the TRIO-Vi Center of Excellence. 🧠 We explored groundbreaking work on: - Gene therapy strategies targeting calcium signalling in uveal melanoma - Automated, open-source AI for retinal image analysis - Models of inherited retinal dystrophies to uncover disease mechanisms and test therapies - Spatial-omics to map retinal disease at the molecular level - Advanced imaging techniques to probe retinal structure and function in unprecedented detail - Novel approaches to neural circuit manipulation in vision restoration research From seminar room presentations to one-on-one dialogues, the day was packed with insights and inspiration. We had the pleasure of meeting with some of the most brilliant minds in ophthalmic science, including: 👥 Prof. Andrew Dick, Prof. Alison Hardcastle, Prof. Michael Cheetham, Prof. Paul Foster, Dr. Angelos K., Dr. Nikolas Pontikos, Dr. Davide Zecchin, Dr. Matteo Rizzi, Dr. Colin Chu, Dr. Thomas Smart, Mahi Muqit, Fiona Reid, Yukon Zhou. 🤝 Collaboration is how we move science from vision to reality. Thank you, UCL IoO, for the warm welcome and stimulating start to our joint journey! 📸 Photo courtesy of: Dr. Karol Karnowski (As the designated photographer, he didn’t make it into many shots himself - classic! The only trace is a mirror reflection... and even then, the camera got more screen time). #NoSelfiesJustScience #BehindTheLensLife #TRIOVi #UCL #ICTER #ICTER_CoE #EyeResearch #Ophthalmology #TranslationalScience #VisionScience #InnovationInSight #SorbonneUniversite #InstitutDeLaVision #HorizonEurope  #1520Institute #Inserm #IChF #PAN #PAS #PolishAcademyOfSciences #PolskaAkademiaNauk #EUFunds #FENG #FNP #FunduszeUE
