It’s been a privilege to be back for Day 2 of the regional nutrition conference here in the MENA region. Standing alongside our partners in the regional nutrition alliance, supported by the World Bank and UNICEF, it’s been incredibly inspiring to see the collective commitment to tackling malnutrition. The key to the ongoing success is seeing how government officials themselves drive these discussions and leading the cross-country learning sessions. Hearing firsthand from leaders representing #Sudan, #Djibouti, #Syria, #Yemen, #Palestine, and #Libya about their challenges and successes has been a powerful reminder that real change is built on shared experience and local ownership. While our work is rooted in compassion, I’ve been reflecting on the economic reality we discussed today: every 1 (one) USD invested in nutrition yields an estimated 23 USD return in economic growth. This isn't just a statistic; it’s a blueprint for a better future. When we prioritize nutrition, we are investing in human capital, which leads to: A brighter future for our children by reducing stunting and unlocking their full potential. A stronger, more capable workforce through higher future productivity. More resilient societies by reducing long-term healthcare costs and mortality rates. The "Investment Framework for Nutrition 2024" highlights that the cost of inaction is simply too high. By acting now, we aren't just solving a health crisis—we are building the foundation for a more prosperous and stable economy for generations to come. We are so proud of the team at i-APS for being an integral part of these conversations.
