Following the devastating June 24 earthquake in Venezuela, i-APS and VZ-APS launched a rapid, in-person needs assessment to gather immediate ground truth from the hardest-hit areas. While many assessments are conducted remotely, our teams deployed locally to speak directly with the affected communities. In just 3 days (July 1-3), we surveyed 504 households, reaching 2,251 individuals across La Guaira and five neighboring municipalities. We are proud that our on-the-ground data is already helping numerous humanitarian organizations shape and target their emergency response. 📊 Key Assessment Highlights: Displacement outpaces structural damage: While 27% of homes are destroyed or uninhabitable, 43% of families are currently sleeping in the open air or public spaces, largely driven by the fear of aftershocks. Critical resource shortages: 52% of households lack access to safe drinking water, and 22% do not have enough food for the next 3-7 days. Health and Safety: 37% of respondents report that their nearest health facility is not functioning or accessible, while 24% have an urgent medical need.
