Brand Finance's Sustainability Perceptions Index, in association with the International Advertising Association, has just been published and as always, it makes for some interesting reading. Sustainability perception and performance do not always align, but that gap has real implications for brand value. Brands that overstate their sustainability progress may be putting their reputation at risk, while those that fail to communicate their progress effectively leave significant brand value untapped. In this report, the disconnect is measured through Gap Values, capturing the difference between perceived sustainability and actual performance.
