Prudence Crandall is a powerful example of what it means to live out pluralism in civic life. In 1833, she opened a school dedicated to educating Black women, defying both social norms and discriminatory laws. She faced arrest, boycotts, and violence, yet remained committed to the belief that education and dignity should not be limited by race. Her courage invites us to consider our own role in advancing pluralism today.
