Posidonia 2026: A week of connection, collaboration and contribution Throughout last week, INTERCARGO representatives were pleased to contribute to a wide range of discussions and industry events, engaging with members, partners and stakeholders from across the global maritime community. At the launch event of project PERMISS, our Secretary General, Kostas GKONIS, PhD, delivered an opening speech on the growing importance of the human element in an increasingly digital industry, as experienced also in the dry bulk sector. Exploring the intersection of behavioural science, AI and maritime operations, his remarks highlighted how data-driven approaches could help strengthen leadership, communication and decision-making skills at sea. Moreover, our Vice-Chair, Metaxia Psalti, participated in the SQLearn & RightShip conference, discussing how shipping companies can move beyond compliance and focus on effective onboard implementation, safety culture, training and operational excellence. She also highlighted initiatives such as our latest Ship-to-Ship Transfer Guidelines for Bulk Carriers and Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence. Our Technical Committee Chair, Dimitris Monioudis, moderated the Norway–Greece Dialogue on “Securing the Global Fleet”, bringing together industry stakeholders to discuss maritime security (both physical and cyber), resilience, sustainability and international cooperation. Dimitris also chaired the opening panel of the first XINDE MARINE NEWS Forum in Athens, leading discussions on navigating an increasingly complex operating environment shaped by geopolitical developments, market uncertainty, technological developments, energy transition challenges and the growing importance of the human element. Our Chairman, John Xylas, also contributed to discussions at the Adopt a Ship by PROJECT CONNECT conference on attracting and developing the maritime workforce of the future. INTERCARGO would like to thank everyone who took the time to connect with us throughout the week. Posidonia Events continue to provide a valuable platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, advocating for the dry bulk sector and constructive dialogue across our industry. We look forward to continuing these conversations and engaging all stakeholders including charterers, insurers, regulators, cargo shippers, ports and terminals. #Posidonia2026 #INTERCARGO #DryBulk #Shipping #MaritimeSafety #HumanElement #OperationalExcellence #MaritimeSecurity #Seafarers
