🔬✨ New paper published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces! ✨🔬 We are very excited to this research article: 📄 “Injectable Nanocomposite Biomaterial for 3D Printing of Personalized Matrices and Their Use in Bioreactors for Bioengineering Advanced Cell Culture Models” https://lnkd.in/dDpgccDq In this work, our researchers Elisabetta Campodoni, Margherita Montanari, Gaia Vicinelli, Monica Sandri developed an injectable nanocomposite hydrogel (bHAGel) combining gelatin and biomimetic Mg-doped hydroxyapatite, specifically designed for high-fidelity 3D extrusion printing and seamless integration into perfusion bioreactor systems. 🦴Why it matters: ✔️ The material mimics the bone extracellular matrix ✔️ Enables personalized, porous 3D scaffolds with interconnected macro- and microporosity ✔️ Supports long-term dynamic cultures under perfusion ✔️ Promotes osteogenic differentiation of human bone-marrow stromal cells ✔️ Allows physiological osteoblast–osteoclast coculture, capturing key aspects of bone remodeling By combining 3D printing, freeze-drying, and bioreactor-based culture, this platform offers a modular and biologically relevant approach for: 🦴 bone tissue engineering 🧫 disease modeling 💊 drug testing and advanced in vitro bone-like systems 🤝 This work was the result of a truly collaborative effort. Many thanks to all co-authors and collaborators from: University of Basel (Andrea Mazzoleni, Manuele Giuseppe Muraro, Ivan Martin) and IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital (Italy) (Valentina Possetti, Antonio Inforzato). 🙏 We also gratefully acknowledge funding from PNRR MUR – ECOSISTER and the Research Council of Norway (3DPRENT project). ✨ Proud of the teamwork behind this study and excited about the future applications of this biomimetic platform! #3Dprinting #biomaterials #tissueengineering #bone #bioreactors #organoids #collaboration #research #science 🧪🦴🚀 Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
