106 care leavers died in the year to April 2026. Most were aged between 16 and 21. At The Inside Out Clothing Project CIC, we work with care-experienced young people. We see their resilience, creativity and potential, but we also see the challenges many face as they transition into adulthood. Behind every statistic is a young person, a family, and a story. These figures should be a wake-up call. More must be done to ensure care leavers receive the support, opportunities and stability they need not just to survive, but to thrive. For the 106 young people who lost their lives far too soon, we owe them more than concern.
