This week, Rotterdam Ahoy was the epicentre of the hydrogen world during the World Hydrogen Summit 2026, and InnovationQuarter was right in the middle of it. It was an inspiring few days in a sector that is clearly on the move, with growing attention for regional and European collaboration, practical implementation and the conditions needed to bring hydrogen innovations to market. A few highlights: ✅ We kicked off with Hydrogen & Breakfast, together with Rotterdam Partners, zooming in on three key themes: locations, permitting & policy, and market developments. ✅ Mark Smith and Heleen van Tilborgh announced LAUNCH₂, the new central point for hydrogen innovation in the region. ✅ The shared regional stand (Port of Rotterdam, InnovationQuarter, Gemeente Rotterdam & Provincie Zuid-Holland) was buzzing throughout the Summit, from the HydroGin drinks reception to company pitches by hubs and fieldlabs in silent disco format. ✅ And to top it all off: His Majesty King Willem Alexander, Minister of Climate and Green Growth Stientje van Veldhoven and Mayor of Rotterdam Carola Schouten visited our stand. These moments also underlined the broader European perspective. The future Delta Rhine Corridor will play a central role in connecting the port of Rotterdam with key industrial regions in Germany, strengthening the international hydrogen infrastructure that Europe needs. Proud of all the colleagues, partners and entrepreneurs who represented our region this week.
