Today, Lord Vallance launched the National Materials Innovation Programme during his opening address at Innovate UK’s Materials Research Exchange, describing it as "an £80m investment to accelerate the time it takes to go from discoveries in the lab, to the products that improve people’s lives." Delivered by Innovate UK and EPSRC on behalf of UK Research and Innovation, the programme will establish a more coordinated national approach to advanced materials, helping to accelerate the translation and adoption of UK innovations across priority industrial sectors. With a strong focus on pull‑through, the National Materials Innovation Programme will help UK innovations reach market faster and strengthen manufacturing capability in the UK.
