🍌🎉 50% of banana volumes sourced by the German Retailers’ Working Group are living wage, marking a major milestone for fair wages and work in the banana sector. The German Retailers Working Group on Living Wages and Incomes has published its 2025 Progress Report for the project “Towards Living Wages in the Banana Sector”, highlighting key achievements in the previous project year. Key achievements include: 💡 400+ farms with 42,000 workers across seven producing countries participated in the Living Wage Program. 💡 To support farms where living wage gaps remain, participating retailers initiated the distribution of approximately USD 413,000 in voluntary contributions, providing additional financial support aimed at improving worker livelihoods. 💡Progress in alignment on voluntary contribution mechanisms across the sector, assessment of responsible purchasing practices and exploring long-term solutions with different industry stakeholders. This progress reflects years of collaboration between various stakeholders to address persistent wage gaps in banana production. The shared goal remains clear: achieving sustainable, long-term improvements in wages and working conditions through shared responsibility across the banana value chain. 🤝 Read the full Progress Report 2025 here: https://lnkd.in/e-sQWriH
