Today we had the privilege of hosting Ameenat Lola Solebo at our Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, as part of the CAML Rheumatology Series. Her talk — “Counting everything — and everyone counts: Applying epidemiology and data science to childhood uveitis” 🧒 👧 — brought the experience and insight of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust and UCL into a discussion that was both rigorous and deeply human. Beyond the data, what stood out was the tone: a rare combination of scientific precision and genuine sensitivity. 📊✨ She highlighted how social inequality and underprivileged conditions are not just abstract determinants — they translate into measurable differences, with evidence showing more severe disease and greater sequelae in children with uveitis. 🤸 It was a talk with real aura — one that reminds us that counting data is inseparable from valuing people. 👁️ 👣 Grateful for the perspective, and for the conversation it sparked. 👁️🗨️ #childhooduveitis
