Indra Group and Rheinmetall have signed an agreement to integrate the NEMUS AESA radar into the StrikeShield active protection system, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the protection of next-generation armoured vehicles against increasingly complex threats such as drones and hypersonic projectiles. NEMUS stands out for its unique capability to detect and track, with the same hardware, extremely slow targets alongside high-velocity threats exceeding 2,000 m/s. This versatility enables a single radar solution to address a wide range of missions, including C-UAS, short-range air defence, ISTAR and active protection systems for armoured platforms. When integrated into StrikeShield, NEMUS provides highly accurate detection and tracking, while the system determines and deploys the most effective countermeasures to ensure maximum survivability for both vehicle and crew. This collaboration strengthens the long-standing partnership between Indra and Rheinmetall and further consolidates Indra’s position as a global leader in advanced radar solutions for APS systems. It also reinforces the company’s role in major European defence initiatives, including programmes such as FAMOUS programme, MARTE and AURIGA, as well as the European Defence Agency’s DARTBRAKER project focused on next-generation active protection capabilities.
