A nation's greatest investment isn't found in roads, buildings, or infrastructure. It begins with its children. And Happy Hearts Indonesia embodies this belief every day. For the latest edition of Indonesia Rising's "Great Global Minds Who Contribute So Much For Indonesia" editorial series, I had the privilege of interviewing Sylvia Beiwinkler, CEO and Secretary-General of Happy Hearts Indonesia. Her journey from Austria to Indonesia has been guided by a simple yet profound belief: every child deserves access to a safe, inspiring place to learn. Over the past decade, Sylvia has helped lead the rebuilding of hundreds of schools across Indonesia, proving that education is far more than a social responsibility it is one of the most strategic investments we can make in our nation's future. Our conversation goes beyond philanthropy. We explore purposeful leadership, the power of long-term vision, and why lasting change can only happen when governments, businesses, communities, and individuals choose to work together. One quote from Sylvia stayed with me: "A school is more than a building, it is a place where children discover their potential, teachers inspire, and communities come together with hope for a better future."
