When Abigail Vastag began Indiana University School of Nursing's Accelerated BSN program, she was balancing multiple jobs while wondering how she would afford tuition. Receiving the Helene Fuld Health Trust Nursing Scholarship changed everything. “I remember being super excited and calling my dad because I had budgeted for the semester and had saved up almost enough to pay for school if I wiped out my entire account,” Vastag said. “So, when I found out that I received the scholarship, I was so grateful that I’d now be getting closer to not being in debt when I graduate, which is great.” Today, she's beginning her career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Riley Children's Hospital, with dreams of continuing to grow in critical care and one day mentoring the next generation of nurses. Since 2014, the Helene Fuld Health Trust Nursing Scholarship has helped more than 300 IU Indianapolis Accelerated BSN students pursue their nursing education, making a difference across Indiana and beyond.
