As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we are honoring the woman whose leadership has been the backbone of IDRF since its inception. To speak of our history is to speak of Sarla Prakash. Without her, IDRF would not be where it is today. Her contribution is found in the invisible work that built this institution: the accountability that held us together, the discipline that ensured our growth, and the trust she cultivated long before we were a global community. Sarla didn’t just support the mission; she anchored it. She was the steady force that turned a vision into a lasting reality. While her leadership took many forms, Sarla’s Kitchen was a clear reflection of her ability to mobilize. She used culture and hospitality as a strategic bridge, bringing people together to move them toward meaningful action. Through her efforts, every guest contribution was matched by IDRF, doubling the impact of their generosity. From teaching the next generation to humanizing our mission, she built the foundation that makes everything we do today possible.
