"A lot of it is listening. It's not an instant fix, it's a cultural change over generations." – Jeremy Stowe-Lindner, Principal at Bialik College. Today, Independent Schools Victoria brought together Jewish and non-Jewish school leaders at the Jewish Museum of Australia for our second Jewish Schools Forum, centred on the theme Belonging and Safety: Respecting Difference in School Communities. Through presentations, case studies and roundtable discussions, participants shared experiences, challenges and practical approaches to addressing antisemitism, supporting student wellbeing, celebrating diversity and strengthening respectful school cultures. A recurring message throughout the morning was the importance of listening, learning from one another and creating opportunities for meaningful connection across communities. Thank you to our hosts at the Jewish Museum of Australia, and to representatives from Bialik College, Mount Scopus Memorial College, Caulfield Grammar School and all attending schools for contributing to a thoughtful, constructive and solutions-focused conversation.
