I have a playlist for every mood, including "Staring at a Figma file for 3 hours." As an Experience Designer, I spend a lot of time thinking about "mental models." But in my personal life? My mental models are just Spotify playlists. I’m the person who has: A “Feeling like a panda“ 🐼 soulful playlist, A "Shower concert" playlist, A "Deep work / Don't talk to me" meditation mix, & An "I just hit my PR at the gym" 🤪 playlist. Last year, Spotify even gave me the Playlist Curator Award 🤓, which basically validated my obsession. But as any Spotify enthusiast may know, managing the default "Liked Songs" library of 700+ tracks was a nightmare... until now. Spotify’s new filter feature within the "Liked Songs" section is nothing less than a saviour for me. (Check the screenshots! 📸) Now, instead of me manually sorting every new track I find into a dozen different playlists, the app does the heavy lifting. I can hit "Energetic," "Latin," or "New Age," and it instantly slices my playlist into the exact vibe I need. Why the UX nerd in me loves this: 1. Reduced Cognitive Load: I don’t have to remember which playlist I put that one song in. 2. One-Click Action: The "Make this a playlist" button is a masterclass in reducing friction. It turns a temporary filter into a permanent asset. It’s a rare win when a product understands your messy habits and builds a bridge to help you stay organized. Is there any other feature of Spotify that has made your life less-stressful? Let me know in the comment section below! #UXDesign #ProductDesign #Spotify #UserExperience #MusicCurator #DesignThinking
