A recurring theme stood out: ๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™š๐™™๐™ž๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™–๐™—๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฉ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™จ๐™–๐™ข๐™š ๐™–๐™จ ๐™ก๐™š๐™–๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™–๐™—๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ (as highlighted by Hans Korving). Models can work extremely well without necessarily helping us understand complex systems. Alden Keefe Sampsonโ€™s keynote captured this shift clearly: ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด from building models to exercising judgement โ€” as ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ and ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜€, connecting science, context, and decision making.ย  This strongly resonates with our work at KWR Water Research Institute: from Hydroinformatics research on Data Science & AI and Integrated Infrastructure Modelling, to building a shared digital knowledge infrastructure together with drinking water utilities. Iโ€™ve written up some reflections from EGU26 in a new blog ๐Ÿ‘‡ ๐Ÿ“– https://lnkd.in/d5GzP7TB Curious to hear from others: ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐—˜๐—š๐—จ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ? with Andrea Cominola, Sitzenfrei Robert, Stefano Alvisi, Riccardo Taormina, Joost van Summeren #EGU26 #AI #Hydroinformatics #DigitalWater #Modelling #Uncertainty #Collaboration #KWRHydroinformatics
