Last week, we convened the inaugural meeting of the Imperial Global USA Advisory Council in San Francisco - an important milestone in the next phase of Imperial’s global research and innovation strategy. Bringing together a small group of US‑based leaders in science, technology, investment and public policy, the Council has been established to help guide the work of Imperial Global USA, our San Francisco hub and cornerstone of Imperial’s transatlantic network. Imperial Global USA is deliberately different from traditional international university offices. Rather than focusing on student recruitment or fundraising, it is designed to build meaningful science and technology networks - connecting Imperial’s mission‑driven, interdisciplinary research with Silicon Valley’s capital, talent and innovation ecosystems. The Advisory Council will offer insight on emerging scientific, technological and economic trends; advise on how Imperial can maximise its global impact and visibility in the US; and help connect our research ambitions with partners, policymakers and philanthropic opportunities. It will also play a key role in promoting WestTech London as Europe’s most dynamic entry point for US tech.
