A Met Office warning for extreme heat is in place from Monday 22 – Thursday 25 June. There is a red alert in place for London from 0900 on Wednesday 24 until 2100 on Thursday 25 2026. All staff and students should follow NHS advice about staying safe in the heat: Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun Drink plenty of fluids and limit your alcohol intake Check on family, friends and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell, and if you are at higher risk, ask them to do the same for you Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and what to do if you or someone else has them Try to avoid direct sunlight, especially between 1100 and 1500 when UV levels are highest Extreme heat can also cause travel disruption, so check your journey before travelling. For staff: Staff should discuss with their line manager any workplace adjustments that may be required. For students: Any changes to teaching or examinations will be communicated by your department. Please speak to your Faculty Senior Tutor with any specific questions. Keep up to date with the latest via www.imperial.ac.uk/alerts We have postponed this week’s Open Days. Please do not travel to campus for the events. As an immediate alternative, we’ll be running online Open Day talks via MS Teams this Thursday 25 June. If you have any questions, please email the Open Days team: [email protected].
