⚡A historic milestone for Imerys Graphite & Carbon Belgium: Together with our partner E.ON, we have officially inaugurated our state-of-the-art energy recovery plant at our production site in Willebroek. We were honored to welcome Jean-Luc Crucke, Belgium’s Minister of Mobility, Climate and Ecological Transition, to celebrate the official opening of this landmark project, in partnership with E.ON Power Plants Belgium. Here’s why this matters: ⚡ The plant converts the energy of industrial syngas into electricity via a high-efficiency steam turbine. 🏭 It feeds surplus electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of roughly 40,000 households into the Belgian public grid, while also powering our entire Willebroek site. 🔋 Willebroek is the world’s leading facility for high-purity carbon black - a critical component for lithium-ion batteries in cars and energy storage systems. "This plant is a lighthouse project for Imerys Graphite & Carbon, as it represents a step change in our production process optimisation, maximising resource efficiency and minimising our climate and emissions impact," said Frank Wittchen, Vice President & General Manager, Imerys Graphite & Carbon. A massive thank you to our partners at E.ON and our teams whose hard work made this remarkable success possible. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4w69DAh
