"Have confidence in yourself and dare to dream big." That’s the advice imec researcher Aarti Rathi would give her younger self. Growing up in India, in a community where girls’ education was not always encouraged, Aarti saw her parents make countless sacrifices to ensure that both their children had the opportunity to study and pursue their ambitions. Today, she is helping shape the technologies of tomorrow at imec. Looking back, she has one message: “Don’t doubt yourself. Have confidence in your abilities and remember that hard work can take you further than you ever dared to dream. Big dreams can come true.” For Aarti, working at imec has also brought something equally important: the possibility to combine ambition with self-care and to find a balance between professional fulfilment and personal wellbeing.
