When Lucerito Juarez joined IMDEX through our graduate program in Peru, she started in surveying. Today, she is building her expertise in Directional Core Drilling (DCD), one of the most specialised disciplines in the resources industry. Driven by curiosity, Lucerito sought out opportunities to learn beyond her role, observing, asking questions and getting hands-on experience wherever she could. Now working in the field at Antamina her role goes beyond operating tools. It combines planning, technical execution, real-time decision-making and constant collaboration with the drill crew - all focused on achieving the clear objective of ensuring the drill hole reaches the target the client needs. Lucerito is the first woman to work in Directional Core Drilling for IMDEX, an achievement she didn’t set out to reach, but one she hopes will pave the way for other women to join the industry. Through our partnership with Antamina, emerging talent like Lucerito are gaining valuable hands-on field experience in complex environments.
