Can researchers evaluate the managerial value of academic work? At this year’s ISMS Marketing Science Conference, Malte Bleeker presented his joint research with Sven Reinecke, Johannes Hattula, and David Reibstein on exactly this question. Drawing on a dataset of reviews, we empirically underline researchers’ difficulties in evaluating managerial relevance, as well as the value of regular target-group feedback and first-hand industry exposure.
