Business Performance Management @ East African Breweries PLC | Analytics & Insights, Business Strategy, Financial Reporting

Taking on the role of MC and panel moderator for the first time was both exciting and uncomfortable in the best way. This experience truly reflected this year's International Women's Day theme: "Strengthening Access to Opportunities and Equality for All." The event marked the culmination of a month-long celebration of International Women's Day at East African Breweries PLC (EABL), organized by our internal women’s ERG, #SpiritedWomen. It brought together women across the business for a conversation that went beyond titles and career paths, delving into lived experiences, identity, confidence, resilience, and what it truly takes to access and create opportunities. A heartfelt thank you to our panelists Risper Genga Ohaga, Marion Gathoga - Mwangi, Rosemary Mwaniki, and Muthoni Ndonga for their honesty and depth. What resonated most was the understanding that access isn’t always defined by one significant moment. More often, it is shaped by everyday small decisions: bringing your A-game, speaking up when it’s uncomfortable, pursuing opportunities before feeling completely ready, and choosing to create space not just for yourself, but for others. Personally, taking on this role reminded me that access to opportunities doesn’t always present itself as a perfect fit; rather, you grow into it. Readiness isn't something to wait for; it's built by saying yes and figuring things out along the way. Embracing opportunities before feeling fully prepared is how you expand what’s possible for yourself. I am also incredibly grateful to the women on the organizing committee: Effie N. Thiong'o, Faith Kimathi, Wangeci Njagi, and the wider #SpiritedWomen team who made this event possible. Your intention and effort created a space that felt both empowering and authentic. Moments like this make me grateful to work in an environment where conversations like these are not just encouraged, but actively fostered. Happy International Women's Month! #IWD #WomenInLeadership #SpiritedWomen
