“Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike.” — John F. Kennedy Today, millions watched the opening stage of the Tour de France. We rode our own. No helicopters. No TV cameras. No yellow jersey. Just the Pacific, the climbs of Orange County, a sea of American flags, and a group of riders choosing discomfort over convenience on the Fourth of July. It made me wonder… What if the real race isn’t against the rider next to us? What if it’s against complacency? Every weekend, the ReConnect and Endurance cycling clubs remind me that success is rarely a solo effort. Someone pulls into the wind so others can recover. Someone waits at the top of the climb. Someone checks that nobody gets left behind. Imagine if more workplaces operated that way. Less ego. More trust. Less politics. More pulling together. Less taking credit. More sharing the load. Maybe that’s why I keep coming back. Cycling doesn’t just build stronger legs—it builds stronger people. Happy Independence Day to everyone who believes freedom is more than a holiday. It’s the freedom to challenge yourself, support others, and become a little better than you were yesterday. See you on the next ride. 🇺🇸🚴 #Leadership #Teamwork #ProfessionalDevelopment #CyclingLife #HealthcareLeadership #OCPCTane #FourthOfJuly #TourDeFrance #OrangeCounty
