Global Wind Day 2026 – Driving the Energy Transition Together 🌍💚 On this year’s Global Wind Day, we proudly reflect on our contributions to wind energy: one in every five plates we produce finds its way into a wind energy project—becoming part of a more sustainable future. According to the Global Wind Report, the industry continues to grow at remarkable speed: ⚡ 165 GW of new wind capacity added last year (+40%) ⚡ 1,299 GW total installed capacity worldwide ⚡ 57 countries added new installations – 138 countries now supplied in total We support this momentum with tailored solutions—meeting a wide range of project requirements, including CO₂-reduced heavy plate for the decarbonization of value chains. 🔎 In practice: For the RWE offshore project Thor, we supplied around 25,000 tonnes of CO₂-reduced heavy plate together with our sister company Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech GmbH, contributing to the “greener towers” of Siemens Gamesa —a key step toward reducing emissions in the wind energy sector. 👉 Our ambition: Not just to support the energy transition, but to actively shape it. #IlsenburgerGrobblech #ILG #GlobalWindDay #WindEnergy #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #GreenSteel #RenewableEnergy #CO2Reduction
