Filmmakers, researchers, archivists, students and activists are warmly invited to engage with digitised materials from our archive, with audiovisual collections such as documentaries, unedited film recordings, and newsreels covering political movements and labour struggles. During this one-day workshop, the AHM/ASCA research initiative Critical Audiovisual Heritage connects questions of activist heritage and memory to ongoing digitisation initiatives at the IISH, to show how this reshapes access, reuse and collaboration related to political and social movements. You will explore, among other topics, the tensions between activist “source communities” and filmmakers, creative archival reuse, and fugitive historiography within the audiovisual archive. With Christian Gosvig Olesen, Amanda Egbe, Fidel Enciso Durán, Amanda van Hesteren, Nina van den Berg, Bence Meijer, Harriet Stroomberg and Cees Martens and Luna Hupperetz On 23 April, there will also be an accompanying film programme at the Kriteron cinema in Amsterdam. This programme centres on the work of Amanda Egbe, who will also give a lecture during the workshop. 📅 24 April 2026 🕓 9:30-17:00 📍 IISG, Cruquiusweg 31, Amsterdam 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e_S39a_4
