IHE Delft marked 15 years of the partnership between Rotary and IHE Delft during Rotary’s Climate and Water Mobilization Forum on 18 April. Fundraising for Rotary-IHE Delft scholarships began in 2011, with the first Rotary scholarship students coming to IHE Delft in 2012. Since then, almost 200 students have studied at IHE Delft on a Rotary Scholarship. “IHE Delft and Rotary have the same mission: to work towards improving health, peace, environment, education and water,” said Ingrid Roelvink, IHE Delft Operational Director and Chair of the Management Board adding that investment in one student is an investment in many. Addressing the meeting online from Germany, Holger Knaack, former President of Rotary International, called water is the most important part of the environment. “The IHE Delft scholarship is a flagship programme on water and the environment,” he said. At international level, Rotary, IHE Delft and the Dutch Water Authorities (WaterUnie) have joined forces to share knowledge in 15 countries through the Blue Deal. The deal aims to ensure that 20 million people worldwide get access to clean, sufficient and safe water by 2030.
