Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, Red Cross volunteers were among the first to assess the damage, support affected communities, and coordinate with authorities to identify urgent humanitarian needs. "Our first priority is to assess the damage. We want to understand who's affected, where, and to what extent," Loyce Pace, MPH, IFRC Regional Director for the Americas. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC is supporting the Cruz Roja Venezolana by mobilizing emergency supplies already prepositioned in the country and across the Americas, including hygiene kits, cooking sets, and medical supplies. At the same time, the IFRC is deploying additional personnel, coordinating closely with government authorities, and working with the IFRC network across the region to deliver life-saving assistance as quickly as possible. As assessments continue, teams are also helping provide emergency shelter, health care, psychosocial support, and essential relief for people who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
