Our kestrel chicks have hatched! As we mentioned a while ago, a pair of kestrels had moved into the nesting box at our headquarters and started a brood. A few days ago, four little chicks hatched from the four eggs. We can now watch them grow and thrive on our live stream. In about four weeks, the chicks will start their first flying practice. After that, however, there will be a begging phase, during which the chicks will fly towards their parents and beg for prey. The kestrel hotel on the roof of our car park in Obersulm is a project run by our apprentices and students. They received support and expert input from NABU e.V., Germany’s largest environmental association, and the Wüstenrot Centre for Birds of Prey.
