In this video, Jildou Smit from Bakker (a Greenyard company) highlights the banana living wage commitment as an example of what’s possible when companies and suppliers work together. Through the SIFAV - Sustainability Initiative Fruit and Vegetables companies are aligning around shared social standards and common goals. For suppliers, that means fewer requirements to manage; for companies, it helps align efforts and drive progress. But alignment on its own isn’t enough. Making progress on living wages also means understanding where the gaps are and how to close them. That’s where practical tools like IDH’s Salary Matrix come in. Working closely with suppliers, and using these tools, has helped measure and address wage gaps. Even better, the lessons learned can now be applied across other supply chains. Join the conversation at the Living Wage & Living Income Summit, 29–30 June. As part of the strategic partnership between Albert Heijn and Bakker, Erik Vorenkamp, director of the AH Foundation and Lisa Lindelauf, Sustainability Specialist at Bakker will bring their living wage work to the spotlight. #LivingWage #ResponsibleBusiness #SustainableSupplyChains #LivingIncome #IDHLILWSummit2026
