Today’s methods for digital authentication were built for a pre-quantum world—and that world is disappearing fast. IST is introducing a new approach to authentication that replaces traditional digital signatures with Key Encapsulation Mechanisms (KEM). What does this look like in the real-world? IST successfully implemented its solution within the NIST PIV framework, becoming the first company to demonstrate a complete Personal Identity Verification application running on a smartcard using post-quantum cryptography. The result is quantum-resistant security that is practical, scalable, and ready for constrained environments like embedded systems.
