During a single ascending pass over Australia, one of our SAR satellites captured a sequence of 20 images that together form a heart shape over the southeast coast. Each frame in the animation represents a precisely timed image acquisition, choreographed in orbit through a combination of physical satellite maneuvering, agile electronic beam steering, and optimized acquisition planning. What makes this pass even more special is that the “heart” is only part of the story. During the very same orbit, the satellite also collected an additional 13 images over Australia – 33 images in total from a single pass. It’s a vivid example of how we can rapidly retask and shape imaging activities in both time and space, without compromising coverage. As ICEYE's Shikha Sharma puts it, "Combine physical maneuvering with electronic beam steering, add smart acquisition and constellation planning, and capturing hundreds of images per orbit with a single satellite becomes straightforward. Scale that across a fleet, and we’re moving into a world of thousands of images per day – and a radically new level of temporal insight for our customers." We’re excited to share this heart-shaped acquisition as a beautiful illustration of what’s possible with ICEYE’s SAR technology and agile tasking. For those who want to dive deeper into this single pass and all 33 images collected over Australia, you can explore more details in our blog: https://hubs.li/Q049-_fz0.
