Last Week, iC hosted an internal FIDIC workshop led by Robert Werth, international arbitrator, mediator, and co-author of the FIDIC Green Book, joined in conversation by Muhamed VESELI. The sessions went beyond theory. The group worked through the structural differences between the Green, Red, and Yellow Books: where each contract form applies, how the Engineer's role and administrative responsibilities shift depending on complexity and risk, and what that means in practice for Works and Services contracts on internationally financed projects. One key takeaway: the Green Book (Short Form of Contract, 2nd Edition 2021) is not a simplified contract but a streamlined one. It covers quality, time, safety, and claims just as comprehensively as its major siblings, with less administrative overhead. The right tool when the perceived risk level allows for it. For iC teams working as FIDIC Engineer, in technical assistance, or as lenders' monitors, this kind of hands-on engagement with the frameworks we apply daily is a direct input into project quality and client advice.
