We recently sat down with Harald Scheidtweiler from ALDI SÜD HOLDING together with Markus Willert at their newly opened headquarters near Salzburg — and he had some words to share about our collaboration. What started in 2014 with around 50 employees has grown to approximately 1,000 people, previously spread across numerous rented sites. The new building finally brings everyone under one roof — with the same working conditions for all. Sustainability was central from the outset: the building is pursuing LEED Gold certification, runs without gas or district heating, and generates a significant share of its own energy via geothermal probes and rooftop PV. On the collaboration with iC, Mr Scheidtweiler's assessment was straightforward — challenges arose, as they do on any large project, but were resolved well. He also highlighted the value of iC's integrated approach to site supervision: in buildings this complex, having all trades coordinated in one place makes a real difference.
