Together with James Hutton and pieter desmet we got a new NWO L project funded Moral Experiences and Design for Values This project develops new ways to integrate people’s moral experiences into the design of new technologies. Designers often aim to build technologies that reflect moral values such as fairness or autonomy but lack clear methods for judging whether these values are genuinely realized. Drawing on insights from philosophy, we introduce the concept of techno-moral experience: the ways technologies are emotionally and morally experienced by people they affect. We use this concept to adapt and improve existing design methods, test them in concrete design projects, and develop a practical toolkit that helps designers make more reflective and responsible moral choices.
